Hello, my name is Amelia (Lia), and I am a Junior at Texas State University. I am majoring in Digital Media Innovation with a minor in Spatial Data Science and Health. I have always been interested in how technology, creativity, and information can come together to tell a story. One area I especially enjoy is data visualization because I like finding ways to make information easier and more interesting to understand. My goal is to continue building skills that allow me to combine creativity with data and technology in my future career.
Outside of school, I currently work at James Avery, where I get to interact with a very dedicated client base and fix up pretty jewelry! Working while going to school has taught me how important it is to manage my time and stay organized. My experiences at work and school have helped me become more independent and confident in my ability to provide for myself. I also enjoy learning from the people I meet and the different experiences that come with working with a unique blend of others. Balancing school, work, and my personal interests has become an important part of my everyday life.
Before attending Texas State University, I attended the University of Utah Asia Campus in Incheon, South Korea, where I studied Communications and Information Systems. Living and studying in South Korea was one of the most memorable experiences I have had because it allowed me to experience a different culture while continuing my education. Traveling has become something I really value because it gives me the opportunity to experience new places and learn from different environments. In the future, I hope to have a career that allows me to travel while also doing work that I enjoy and find meaningful. I would love to continue exploring new places and eventually have the opportunity to combine my career with my passion for traveling.
